"Still life" oil on masonite 1961? Loaned by Mrs R. A. Benjamin When i was in high school I took painting my freshman year from Mr Joe Goforth. After he retired I continued taking art classes every year with Mr Ken Sparks. My parents let me have half of our chicken house building in the back yard for my studio. I painted it white and used it for several years and did all kinds of things in there of which this is the only painting we could find. |

In collage I was called "Latex" because i loved latex paint and i used it a lot and it wasn't all that great because many of my early paintings cracked badly but I didn't care. This painting is in the permanent collection of WNMU art department. |

"Dead bird" Acrylic on board 1967 Loaned by Harry Benjamin (painting in the collection of the WNMU art department. This was one of the paintings that I did for my senior exhibition at WNMU. The whole exhibit was my reaction to the Vietnam War and I used dead animals as my models. I have never again ventured into that realm because it was so hard on me both physically and emotionally. |

"Van Gogh" Mixed media on board 1975 Loaned by Trish Geels This painting is the middle panel of another tryptich done on plywood. I used a number of classic figures from the past like this Durer drawing and the sketch of Van Gogh in the upper right hand corner. The first panel was a portrait of Rembrandt with a group of Penquins and the thirs panel was dedicated to Frans Hals. I loved spending the time copying great masters paintings because you learn a lot from what they did just by spending the time looking at their paintings.
